13th Annual “Good of the Union” Fishing Trip

DC 21 is pleased to be hosting our 13th Annual “Good of the Union” Fishing Trip, with Capt. Mike Scardigno of The Mi-Jo. There are three opportunities for you and one guest to join us as we set out for a half-day of fishing for sea bass, fluke, or striper. This is a great chance to see old friends and make new ones within our union.

Benevolent Scholarship Applications Now Open

District Council 21’s Benevolent Scholarship is now open for applications. Please send your essay, application form, and proof of enrollment via US mail postmarked by April 30, 2023. You can access the application form below.

This Election Day – Tuesday, November 8th – we will be fighting for our rights of fair wages and working conditions. Remember to check the website for our endorsements in your district to ensure you’re voting for candidates who have our backs.

All Mechanics and Apprentices can help by coming to one of the locations listed below to do a political action shift or two; you’ll earn $100 per shift! There will be sign-in sheets for District Council 21 at each location.

 
The shifts will be:
  1. 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  2. 3 p.m. (right after work) to 8 p.m.

NJ Industrial Painters Apprenticeship Application Day

Our New Jersey industrial painters are now recruiting! Join us for our application day on Thursday, November 17th from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm at 9 Fadem Road, Springfield, New Jersey.

Bridge painting apprenticeships: starting rate is currently $26/hour plus benefits. As a journey person, you can earn up to $57.23/hour plus benefits.

Line striping apprenticeships: starting rate is $28.35/hour plus benefits. As a journey person, you can earn up to $40.00/hour plus benefits.

If you are interested in applying, you must have the following with you on application day:
  1. Valid Drivers License
  2. Current Vehicle Registration
  3. High School diploma or GED
  4. For line striping, a CDL and a clean driving record
    These items are mandatory to be called for an interview.

Applicants will be contacted by their respective trades coordinator after applications are reviewed with a date and time for an aptitude and physical test followed by an interview.

We encourage you to bring any additional documentation for copies and prior review to your interview. Examples: OSHA 30, NJ Lead CBS Permit, TWIC, SWAC

APPLICATION ENTRY AND INTERVIEW DOES NOT GUARANTEE EMPLOYMENT. Applicants are scored and are then sorted from highest to lowest score. As employers need apprentices, applicants are called in for training and membership signup.

Notes:

  • All required documents must be submitted the day of. We no longer will give a grace period for retrieving missing documents.
  • Vehicle registration does not need to be in applicant’s name but must be vehicle that will be used to travel to work.
  • Foreign diplomas must be translated prior to date of sign up day.
  • Applicants are encouraged to bring in any proof of previous related experience they might have.
  • Applicants must be able to read and understand English.
